making a difference in phelps county communities

Volunteers make the world a better place.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over.  The purpose of RSVP is to enrich the lives of older adults through significant community service.  RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of seniors with opportunities to help solve community problems.  We offer numerous benefits as well as community recognition.

RSVP Volunteers provide a wide range of important community services in areas such as homeland security, public safety, health, education, the environment and elder care.

RSVP is sponsored by the Phelps County Commission with funding and technical support provided by the Corporation for National & Community Service.

What do RSVP Volunteers Do?

Volunteer's share their skills, talents and experiences in critical needs areas throughout Phelps County.

Volunteer's choose when, where and how they'd like to serve.  They set their own hours, decide which site they would enjoy volunteering at most and how much of a challenge they would prefer.

Volunteers may tutor children in reading or math, respond to natural disasters, help to build houses, model parenting skills to teen parents, participate in neighborhood watch programs, work on assigned projects at home, help a neighbor in need or help community organizations operate more efficiently.

If you would like more information about enrolling as a RSVP volunteer or to set up an appointment for a presentation, please contact Sandy Perdue at 573-458-6189.
