The person performing the ceremony is required by law to have the marriage license at the ceremony.

The license must be returned within 15 (fifteen) days after the ceremony is performed.   It is suggested you contact the officiating officer to confirm the license has been returned to the Recorder’s office.  We will contact you to pick up your recorded license as soon as we receive it.  You can then take the recorded license to the offices of Social Security Administration and the Department of Revenue to change your name.
